After a year and a half of study, I've graduated from the Yokohama International Education Academy, and even got an Award of Excellence for my effort! The Japanese language school in Yokohama helped bring me from my entry level, barely able to read Hiragana and knowing only a handful of Kanji, to where I am today. I still have a long way to go on my language learning journey, but I'm now able to read full length novels, and communicate in most settings.
As part of the course, I also took a Business Japanese elective class, where we practiced how to write emails and other professional correspondence, and learned the business customs and etiquette of Japanese society. Hopefully I can put these to good use as I ramp up my job hunting, as I'm transitioning to a Job Hunting Visa (就職活動特定活動ビサ)while I look for jobs in the music and sound industries here in Japan. Wish me luck!
